HomeMy WebLinkAbout92 ShalitaRe: #81 -77 -C Dear Mr. Shalita: STATE ETHICS COMMISSION 308 FINANCE BUILDING HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA 17120 ORDER OF THE COMMISSION November 30, 1981 No. 92 Paul Shalita, Esq. 1285 Wright Drive Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006 The State Ethics Commission has received a complaint regarding you and a possible violation of Act 170 of 1978. The Commission has now completed its investigation into these actions and finds a violation. I. Allegation: That as a Supervisor and a candidate for Supervisor for the years 1979, 1980 and 1981, you failed to report a real estate interest and /or business interest acquired in 1977. This property is located in Bristol Township, Bucks County, and is presently under lease to corporations and /or persons operating an adult book store and live shows at various times. II. Allegation: That income from the above - referenced property was not properly reported on your Financial Interest forms for 1979, 1980 and 1981. III. Allegation: That income from other interests and sources may not have been reported on your Financial Interest Statements for 1979, 1980 and 1981. Findings /Discussion: That you did fail to report sources of income and an'interest in business on your Statement filed April 30, 1981. That you amended the Statement on August 11, 1981 by adding five sources of income, one creditor and one financial interest in a legal entity in business for profit. Paul Shalita, Esq. November 30, 1981 Page -2- PJS /jc Conclusion: You did violate the reporting requirements of the Ethics Act by failing to report appropriate sources of income and business interest. However, you corrected these deficiencies by letter to the Township of Lower Moreland on August 11, 1981 which immediately preceded the commencement of our investigation. Since you have corrected your Financial Interest State- ment, the Commission will take no further action on this matter. Our files in this case will remain confidential in accordance with Section 8(a) of the Ethics Act, 65 P.S. 408(a). However, this Order is final and will become avail- able as a public document within 15 days unless you file documentation with the Commission which justifies recon- sideration and /or challenges pertinent factual findings. During this 15 -day period, no one, including the Re- spondent and /or Complainant, may violate this confidentiality by releasing, discussing or circulating this Order. Any person who violates the confidentiality of a Commission proceeding is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than $1000 or imprisoned for not more than one year or both, see 65 P.S. 409(e).
