Dear Mr. Shaiko:
PJS /jc
STATE ETHICS COMMISSION
308 FINANCE BUILDING
HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA 17120
ORDER OF THE COMMISSION
October 21, 1980
No. 6
#80 -02 -C
The Commission has completed the investigation on the
allegations involving you and your son, Mr. Thomas Shaiko,
Jr., and finds no vitation of the Ethics Act.
The individual allegations and findings on which our
conclusion is based are:
Allegation #1: that Mr. Shaiko, Borough Council
President and his son perform a service for the
Borough Recreation Board and that this is a conflict
of interest.
Finding: Mr. Shaiko's cabinet making business
does on occasion do some repair work for the
Recreation Board but it is minimal. All payments
for this work must be approved by the Council.
His son is employed by the Recreation Board and
paid $70.00 per month. This salary is a clear
item in the Borough budget. Mr. Shaiko's son is
not a minor and not a member of Mr. Shaiko's
"immediate family" as that term is defined in Act
170.
All files in this case will remain confidential.
This order will be final and become available as a
public document within 20 days unless you file documentation
which justifies pertinent factual changes.
Sincerely yours,
mot.
