Your request has been carefully considered by the State Ethics Commission and you are advised as follows. You are a former official and as such, you may not re- present a person with or without compensation on any matter before the governmental body with which you were associated for one year after you leave that body. The governmental body with which you were associated as Director of the Pennsylvania Professional Standards and Practices Commission are the following: all of the duties and responsibilities included in Act 141, Section 5. Section 1 of Act 1978 -170 states that the Legislature declares that the holders of public office covered by the Act pre- sent neither a conflict nore the appearance of a conflict with the public trust. The State Ethics Commission suggests that you can best accomplish this end by restricting yourself for a period of one year after leaving state employment from any and all activities having anything to do with Professional Standards and Practices described in Act 141. Mr. Daniel Austin May 11, 1979 Page Two In the eventyou have any questions about this ruling or with respect to future situations which may arise which you are subject to the State Ethics Act, you may address your inquiry to the Commission in writing for additional guidance. This letter is a public record by law and will be made available as such. Sincerely, Paul J. Smith Chairman
